Started well and then crashed hard at Milwaukee Improv. Byrne attempted humor about the Japanese and heat of the atomic bomb, insults to the audience about their choice of venue, heckling of a pre-school teacher that included sexual innuendo, sophomoric gay jokes, and more. I’ve never left a performance angry until this one. Sexual abuse and death of Japanese are never funny. Never.
We learned of him when we saw him open for someone else and was impressed. When we saw he was coming to town to do his own show we couldnt wait.
Loved his act.
Just watched Steve Byrne have a meltdown in Santa Barbara. He was rarely funny and mostly came off as mean and bitter. Most of his new material were racist jokes that would probably ruin his career if someone taped them and put it on YouTube. He wasn’t very talented at working the crowd, my impression is that Steve is a guy that likes comedy and wanted to give it a try, not a guy that is naturally funny and was born to do this.
His solid delivery makes up for some pretty standard material.
Just saw a performance. Crowd turnout was horrible but He performed as if the club was full. Non stop laughing on my part.
Comes across pretty good, but material is just so-so.
