Raw, honest and always pushes the boundaries of what can be said onstage. A brilliant performer with unique ideas and flawless delivery. Highly recommend for those who aren’t offended by harsh language.
Former co-host of the Man Show on Comedy Central. He’s got lots of toilet humor but presents it in a way that stays fresh. Stanhope is a guy you’d have a beer with and listen to his successes and challenges with women, drugs, drinking, masturbation, and politics.
There is no comedian like Doug Stanhope. There is no person like Doug Stanhope. An absolute inspiration to comedians to not give up on the topics they want to present, as well as an inspiration to comedians who feel as if the industry is pushing them around. Stanhope is a cliche; a true living legend.
Just about my favorite of’em all. A rare talent to verbally paint pictures that would make a sewer rat skip a meal - and use them to push us deeper into the challenge of spotting and changing the bullshit around us. One of the few that can make profoundly beautiful philosophy fit into the dirtiest, funniest shit you’ll ever hear.
This generation’s answer to Bill Hicks? Uncompromising and challenging in both material and delivery style - brilliant!
A standout amongst the modern plethora of ordinary comedians. Seen him live 3 times, which for a UK resident betrays my obsessive fandom.
He’s top 5 working today. The libertarian version of Hicks. And unfortunately one of the least known comics around.
His disgusting approach to life is fantastic. And his unashamed personality makes him so damn memorable.
He is one of the best. His stammering is perfect for his material. He is insightful and clever without being preachy.
