TV Critic: Sitcoms are dead! Comedy writer: Sitcoms are alive! I'll go with the comedy writer since the critic called Desperate Housewives a comedy (which it is not).

Along with another season of her reality show, Kathy Griffin gets two more comedy specials from Bravo in 2009. Anyone she stands next too, watch out. She needs material. (Variety)

 19

Irving Brecher, writer for Milton Berle and the Marx Brothers, dead at 94. One of the last interviews with him will be a part of the upcoming book "And Here's the Kicker."

 18

Sacha Baron Cohen disrupts NBC drama "Medium", sneaking on set as Bruno for his upcoming follow-up to Borat. The nature of the bit (and disturbance) has not been revealed.

Susie Essman: "I don't get heckled that much. Most hecklers are men... When I'm on stage, I'm in control and I don't think men want to be humiliated by a woman. Where with other guys, it's a mano y mano thing, with me I don't think they want to go there." (AintItCool)

Jim Breuer: "Everything on HBO is in the vein of, “Bang ‘em in the ass and throw them into the cellar!”... To walk out there, not talk about pot, and just talk about what’s going on in my life... It was so exhilarating." (SF Standup)

HBO plans Sam Kinison biopic "Brother Sam", based on the book by his brother Bill Kinison. The network had a long relationship with the stand-up, including producing his first hour special "Breaking the Rules."

 14

Sarah Silverman getting a book deal. Will pen a book for one of the three Harper Collins imprints. Describes as a book of comedic essays "just like Tina Fey." Fey has not published her book yet.

 13

MADtv cancelled. Despite making some stars (including Nicole Sullivan, Frank Caliendo and Bobby Lee) the sketch show struggled in the shadow on SNL for 14 years. It may survive off Fox. Exec producers want to take the show to cable.

 11

New in Stores: On DVD, Katt Williams: It's Pimpin' Pimpin' and a 2-disc "ultimate" version of Buster Keaton's "The General". On CD, Gilda Radner's 1980 album "Live from New York."

Patton Oswalt will be live blogging the election returns for Comedy Central's Indecision 2008 site. Visit this link at 7:30E | 4:30 P to catch all of his punditry!

The Farrelly brothers will write and direct a "Three Stooges" movie. A longtime dream project for the pair, they were working on the script as far as back as 2004.

ABC may pickup the cancelled-by-Fox "King of the Hill." Already will air Mike Judge's "Goode Family" midseason. Adding "King" would create an animation block.

 03

Lisa Lampanelli says the difference between her upcoming HBO sitcom about a comic who inherits a comedy club and Pauly Shore's reality show "Minding the Store": "This one has someone in it who's talented."

Chris Rock rallies for Obama in Tampa. Claims he can't do what he normally does but then says: "you want somebody who can relate to what you have to say. Like if I have problems getting laid, I wouldn't call Brad Pitt cuz he wouldn't know what I was talking about."

Women-centered sitcoms thriving (or is that surviving?). Both Samatha Who and Kath & Kim have been picked up for full seasons by ABC and NBC respectively.

 02

Amy Sedaris working on a show for Fox. Stranger with Candy co-star Paul Dinello will co-write and direct and David Letterman's Worldwide Pants is producing. The premise? Still to be revealed.

The 13th season of King of the Hill will be its last. Fox won't renew the animated show. Mike Judge had already moved on to "The Goode Family", a mid-season replacement at ABC.
