* Some Spoilers for Tonight’s Office - You’ve Been Warned *
I was more than a little surprised to see a huge spike in traffic to Dead-Frog’s Aristocrat Joke Database earlier this evening. I had nothing to account for it. The movie has long since been released, the DVD has similarly passed through public consciousness and it runs only sporadicly on cable and then usually only post midnight. I had no idea why I was a part of the site which is just kinda toddling along was exploding with a ton of people in a single hour.
So when I watched tonight’s Office episode “time shifted” and saw Dwight attempt to win Michael’s position with a rendition of the Aristocrats joke, it was like finding a piece of a puzzle behind a couch. What’s it say about Dwight’s sense of humor that he picks the ultimate non-joke joke to tell? And he can’t even be filthy with it - possibly for Angela’s benefit I guess.
Anyway, on to the episode… enjoyed it, good stuff… they’re obviously building to somebody being out of the Office next season. Personally, despite all the hoo-ha about Jim and Karen applying for the position, I think the most interesting stuff both comedic and dramatic is to have Michael out of the office for a time period. It’d be funny to have the office dynamic to change with a new boss and it’s also more fun to have Jim trapped between Pam and Karen.
One question though, does anybody think Michael and co. are interviewing for Jan’s job - that’s she’s as upset about the break up as Michael said she is. It says in the next ep description that Jan will be coming in with “exciting news.” That would be weird. I could almost see Jim doing a take to such information.
