What the WHAT?! is one of the smartest, funniest shows to come out of Second City Hollywood. While sketch comedy shows may tread similar scenarios, the shows that standout approach the familiar with a fresh perspective. What the WHAT?! Is full of smart, fresh perspective. If you weren’t instantly intrigued by Molly Lynch’s dictatorial Irish dance teacher and her hapless class of straight women, you will be after she perfectly executes an authentic Irish dance. Dwayne Flourney’s brilliant Obama Rap is a politically smart, and brilliantly performed, show stopper. Technical Director Michael Hann contributes a unique sound scape to the show, utilizing sound effects within and between sketches, lending the show a distinctly fun personality.

What the WHAT?! is written and performed by Dwayne Flenoury, Rachna Khatau, Rachel Morihiro, Molly Lynch Pietrzak, Valerie Tosi, Eddie Zareh, and Joe Zazzu. Veteran Second City Director Marc Warzecha helms this bright and charming production. What the WHAT?! runs at 9:30, Fridays in March 12 through April 23. Personally, I’m already looking forward to seeing What the WHAT?! again.
