Our first-ever podcast is up!  Joel Fry sits down with Comedy.com’s Matt Komen.  Matt used to be a booker for the Hollywood Improv and the HBO Aspen Comedy Festival.  Now he is senior director of content for the website that tells YOU what’s funny now.  It’s a great conversation, the guy knows his stuff!

We just booked Danny Franks, the manager of Penguin’s Comedy Club in Cedar Rapids IA.  In April, we’re having Judy Carter (author of “The Comedy Bible”) on as a guest.  So we’re stoked for that!

I sit down and talk with Danny Franks, manager of Penguin’s Comedy Club in Cedar Rapids. 

Danny has performed stand-up for the past decade and was named manager of Penguin’s after the club’s former location was destroyed by flooding in the summer of 2008.  Since then, the club has found a new home and has worked tirelessly to improve the comedy community in Eastern Iowa.  Aside from DOUBLING the number of open mics the club hosts, they have also sponsored open mics at outside venues in an attempt to help develop more future stars in the area.  Penguin’s also does a phenomenal job of promoting from within.
