As a recently converted musician, I am realizing there is quite a stigma out there about people who do musical comedy. I’ve been entertaining a sushi restaurant for 2 years and finally took the advice of the audience and got the hell out of there… and took the last “Dirty 30” of my set to the comedy stage.
So I’ve been “trying the scene” in San Diego for about 3 months (and it’s going pretty well), but I’m learning there is quite a stigma among comics that musical comedians are un-funny hacks… even after they see the act, regardless of content. Just curious the general mindset out there, if that is fairly universal, or if I am listening too loudly to the neh-sayers.
Thanks!

P.S. It’s not really going to change me, but more of a morbid curiosity.
