Hi folks,

I bit of background, I started learning in my late thirties and now 5
years later I’m calling myself a beginner/intermediate. It takes me a lot of
hard work to get anywhere and I’ve always struggled.

But lately I don’t really want to pick up the mic, when I do I get
frustrated because I’m a bit crap (because I haven’t practiced) and
generally feel Why Bother? Deep down I don’t want to let it go but I’ve
seemed to have lost my spark for it.

So, any tips and advice for me to help get me out of this rut?

Cheers all,

Wakey

The key is to always convince yourself that you’re killing whenever you’re on stage.  If you do that, you’re less likely to care about how you’re doing, and you’ll be able to better focus your energy on your jokes/delivery.  It will help you control the stage.

I get in ruts like that. You just have to do it. It’s like having a day job and going in when you just feel like staying home in bed. Do it, and let yourself bomb…or be pleasantly surprised. I’ve had both happen. And work on it when you aren’t doing it. You have to get that obsession back.
