So You Think You Can Roast!? Wild Card Audition.

The Friars Club is looking for stand up comedians to audition for the wild card spot in our ongoing contest: So You Think You Can Roast!?  The wild card audition will be held on September 5th at Carolines on Broadway.

We have already selected the top 18 comics from our preliminary audition at Gotham Comedy Club to perform at The Roast of Vincent “Big Pussy” Pastore from The Sopranos as well as George “Mr. Sulu” Takei from Star Trek. 

The winner of the wild card audition will join the last round of our semi-finals at the Friars Club Roast of Omarosa Manigault-Stallworth from NBC’s The Apprentice and VH1’s The Surreal Life, on September 22nd .

Performances will be judged by a special Friars Club Advisory Committee made up of legendary comedians, club owners, writers and entertainers.  The public will also get a chance to vote on their favorite performers at our website http://www.friarsroast.com.

The top two contestants from the Roast of Omarosa will go on to participate in our final round: the Friars Club Roast of Gary “Baba Booey” Dell’Abate which will be broadcast on Sirius Satelite Radio.

The overall winner of the competition will have a once in a lifetime opportunity, a chance to roast Matt Lauer at the legendary Friars Club Celebrity Roast on October 24th in front of an audience of world class comedians, entertainers and network executives.

Please prepare about 90 seconds of your best roast material, aimed at any modern pop culture figure.  Here are some examples of celebrities you may feel like roasting: Oprah, Mel Gibson, Brittany Spears, Ben Affleck, Simon Cowell, Tyra Banks, Dr. Phil, Star Jones, Michael Jackson, Hayden Christensen, Madonna, Keanu Reeves, Brangelina… or anyone that you deem roastable.
