Dear Hilarious Stand Up Comedians:
Congratulations! You have been invited to audition for stand up comedy’s newest competition The Friars Club Presents: So You Think You Can Roast?
Auditions will be held at Gotham Comedy Club (208 W. 23rd St.) on Thursday, June 26th beginning at 12:00 noon. We will be filming the auditions for promotional use.
Performances will be judged by our producers as well as a special Friars Club Advisory Committee made up of legendary comedians, club owners, writers and entertainers.
The 18 selected semi-finalists will go on to perform in one of three So You Think You Can Roast? events to be held at the exclusive Friars Club throughout the summer. Keeping in the tradition of the Friars Roasts, each individual roast will have a celebrity guest of honor, Roastmaster and a judge’s panel consisting of legendary comedians.
Select clips from each roaster’s performance will be posted on our new website http://www.friarsroast.com, where the public will get a chance to view and vote on their favorite roasters. The top two comedians from each roast will advance onto the grand finale which will be broadcast on Sirius Satellite Radio.
The overall winner of the competition will have a once in a lifetime opportunity, a chance to roast Matt Lauer at the legendary Friars Club Celebrity Roast on October 24th in front of an audience of world class comedians, entertainers and network executives (including NBC Universal President/CEO Jeff Zucker).
Please prepare about 90 seconds of your best roast material, aimed at any modern pop culture figure. Here are some examples of celebrities you may feel like roasting: Oprah, Mel Gibson, Brittany Spears, Ben Affleck, Simon Cowell, Tyra Banks, Dr. Phil, Star Jones, Michael Jackson, Hayden Christensen, Madonna, Keanu Reeves, Heidi Montag, Brangelina… or anyone that you deem roastable.
