Hey all,

I just signed up to DeadFrog because I thought I should get out into the stand-up community! :)

In the last few months I have started my own stand-up career in the Philly area and I was looking for some feedback from people who really like stand-up comedy. Also, if you know any places where I could get more stage time that would be greatly appreciated.

Brandon Scott Wolf at the Comedy Cabaret 6-11-09

If you have any suggestions, comments on what I did well, what you liked, what you didn’t like, what I should/could do differently on stage, it would be truly appreciated. Please leave comments here and on YouTube! Thanks

I’m Laurel and I’m organizing a comedy benefit on Wednesday, June 11, 2008, at Under St. Mark’s Theatre in the East Village (a great space that’s agreed to donate the theatre for a night to help out a great cause!).

All the cash from the event will go to toxic waste victims in the Philippines (you can read more about the community in need here: http://www.kamayatpuso.org, I visited these kids in summer 07, and I’m sure if you met them too you’d wanna do something awesome for them!). The show is tentatively titled POVERTY SUCKS.

I’m looking for some awesome NYC or near-NYC Filipino American comedians/ sketch troupes/ improv troupes with Filipino American performers who’d be willing to perform alongside my non-Filipino pals! I’ll have more details firmed up once we get closer to the date, but it looks like each group will do 15-20 minutes, depending on how many groups sign on, and we’ll also hold a raffle and a couple of funny auctions that night, too.

Please let me know if you’re interested in performing, I’d love to have you! Send along clips, scripts and band MP3s!

Thanks!

Some of Manhattan’s finest comedic filmmakers invite you to a night filled with comedic films, free hors d’vours and wine, and tacky holiday tinsel. Located at the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Community Center [208 West 13th Street in New York, NY], the film collection, entitled Hot Shorts for a Cold Night, highlights many of lifes’ trials and tribulations. If you find humor in treacherous dates, sperm, and confused British people, you’ll definitely be entertained.

The event is on Thursday, December 3. The night begins at 6:15 p.m. with a cocktail hour, followed by a screening of four short films and concludes with a 30-minute Q&A. Tickets are $5 with an R.S.V.P. (at hotshortscoldnight at yahoo dot com). Clips of the works can be found at http://youtube.com/thehotshorts, and more information on the event can be found at http://www.gaycenter.org/node/4575.

First timer here ... to any forum. After many years working in film & Tv (I was the Location Manager on the first series of The League of Gentlemen) I am taking some time out to help a friend set up a comedy club in Liverpool ... there are loads of sites where I can find out how great stand ups are ... suprise suprise! But I was wondering if there is anywhere where honest, customer, reviews can be found?

Also, apart from the obvious (ie great comics!) anyone got any thoughts about what makes a great comedy club/night out?

It seems going to the clubs a comedian that speaks without saying @#$%#$ or !#$%# and the occasional @$#* is a rarity. Must we listen to latest one night stand or best sex position you have while doing a visual demonstration on the stool. Many comedians once given the mic feel that it is there duty to have the most awkward conversation with the people at the show.
I am all for free speech but it seems that once you get to a certain point in your career you are going to have to censor yourself for many television channels anyway. Why not start now…..... I guess I just don’t get it…
