Favorite Comedians
Once you’ve figured out that his annoying and hackneyed on-stage persona is actually a choice, you realize how great he is to spare the bulk of his talent for the sake of sheer obnoxiousness. Joke’s on us.
As Mike O’Donoghue’s axiom claims that causing laughter is the lowest form of comedy; Brooks proves it by challenging audiences not only to detect irony, but to figure out what irony actually is. His act is a rare darwinian commodity for those who are really into comedy.
Louis found the coveted sweet spot between the comic craftiness of a well-lived adult and the perspective of an innocent, unfiltered child. Less is more, all is nothing. Louis CK is balanced to perfection. Fantastic.
How many times am I going to delete and redo what I’m writing about Mooney in the search for verbal accuracy on how great he is?
PS: Just got him vs. Louis CK on “Who’s Funnier?”. Are you fucking kidding me? I gotta go to bed sooner or later and won’t settle for “I don’t know”.
If comedians were to be rock bands, Norm would be Phish.
Insult comedy and one-liners are tough mistresses; and those who are crafty enough are bound to become household names throughout generations. Write it down: Jeff Ross will roast Dakota Fanning when she’s in her fifties.
Another case of someone that could’ve been born with no inclination towards performing comedy; but would still make it as a commentator because of his sharp tongue, bullshit detector and fearless wit. Absolutely brilliant.
Just about my favorite of’em all. A rare talent to verbally paint pictures that would make a sewer rat skip a meal - and use them to push us deeper into the challenge of spotting and changing the bullshit around us. One of the few that can make profoundly beautiful philosophy fit into the dirtiest, funniest shit you’ll ever hear.
