Biography
Mike is one of the most unique and powerful voices in the NY stand up scene. He speaks his truth in a way that is sometimes disturbing but always refreshing. His style is fearless as he probes into the heart of issues that most people would rather ignore. He has a way of taking pain and tragedy and spinning them into hilarious laughter. So if you’re up for deep and disturbing belly laughs then Mike is your man.
Mike was born and raised in The Bronx. He discovered his calling as a stand-up in rehab. DeStefano began using heroin when he was 15. When he was 31, he’d been clean about a year and was working as a drug counselor in Florida. He offered to entertain the audience at a convention, and following their positive response, he decided to start his career in stand-up.
Mike is a regular at all the top clubs in New York, has been heard on the Opie and Anthony Show appeared on Late Night with Conan O’Brien, Comedy Central’s Live at Gotham and was a featured comic at both HBO’s Aspen Comedy Festival and the Just for Laughs Comedy Festival in Montreal.
